Provision is excited to announce that we have recently received distinguished recognition from two separate, well-reputed organizations in the healthcare industry. Provision CARES Proton Therapy Nashville was awarded the Press Ganey 2021 Guardian of Excellence Award®, garnering national attention for our Culture of Care for the second year in a row. In addition, Provision Nashville also achieved accreditation from the American Society for Radiation Oncology’s Accreditation Program for Excellence® (APEx), further demonstrating our commitment to excellence in safety and quality in patient-centered care.
‘CULTURE OF CARE’ NATIONALLY HONORED
For the second year in a row, our Culture of Care has been recognized by Press Ganey, the healthcare industry leader in measuring and improving delivery of care. Provision CARES Proton Therapy Nashville was awarded the Press Ganey 2021 Guardian of Excellence Award® for being a top performer in Patient Experience. This prestigious honor is based on direct feedback from actual patients, bolstering Provision’s position as a patient-focused cancer treatment center.
“This is a wonderful achievement that would not be possible without the tireless effort, dedication, and thoughtful consideration shown to our patients from every team member,” said Elizabeth Vanzo, Director of Patient Experience. “Regardless of our job title or role, we believe we are all caregivers who can contribute in a meaningful way to each patient’s outcome. This way of thinking is a significant cultural shift, and it embodies our Culture of Care.”
Vanzo further explained that Press Ganey’s Guardian of Excellence Award® distinguishes Provision among local area providers and top cancer centers in America, and demonstrates that cancer patients in the greater Nashville community can receive top-rated care close to home.
Press Ganey recognizes Provision Nashville, the only proton therapy center in Middle Tennessee, as a top-performing healthcare organization that has achieved the 95th percentile or above for performance in Patient Experience. The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award® is a preeminent, competitive achievement for leading healthcare organizations. Presented annually, the award applauds medical providers that consistently sustained performance in the top 5% of all Press Ganey clients.
Dr. James Gray, Radiation Oncologist, Medical Director of Provision Nashville, and a partner with Tennessee Oncology, says a positive patient experience is a key factor in the overall success of a patient’s cancer treatment.
“It is an honor to receive such high marks from our patients, and a privilege to be part of this distinguished team, that delivers top-level care to our cancer patients and their families every day,” said Dr. Gray. “We care about our patients beyond their treatment and it’s rewarding to know they feel and acknowledge this care.”
SAFETY & QUALITY OF CARE RECEIVE HIGH MARKS
We are also pleased to announce that Provision CARES Proton Therapy Nashville has been accredited by the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) through APEx – Accreditation Program for Excellence®. This achievement means cancer patients in Middle Tennessee not only have access to one of the world’s most advanced cancer treatments, but can also rest assured knowing their care will be of the highest quality and safety. APEx Accreditation further demonstrates Provision’s commitment to putting patients first through our Culture of Care.
“Through this effort, we have demonstrated our dedication to excellence in safety and quality in patient-centered care by promoting effective communication, coordinated treatments, and strong patient engagement,” says Rebecca Bergeron, Vice President of Clinical Services. “Achieving accreditation is something to be tremendously proud of, and to accomplish this while overcoming the enormous challenges we were met with over the past two years is truly a testament of our character and culture.”
Provision CARES Proton Therapy Knoxville was one of the first proton therapy centers (and radiation oncology facilities) in the country to receive APEx Accreditation. Now, having both Provision proton centers accredited will further validate our excellence in delivering high-quality patient care.
The ASTRO Accreditation Program for Excellence is an independent radiation oncology practice accreditation program. The program is based on a comprehensive set of 16 standards of radiation oncology practice, organized around five pillars of patient care: the process of care, the radiation oncology team, safety, quality management, and patient-centered care.
To receive APEx Accreditation, Provision Nashville voluntarily underwent a rigorous review process by trained radiation oncology professionals, during which our policies and procedures were evaluated using objective, verifiable expectations for performance in radiation oncology.
“I have always held great confidence in the high quality of care offered at our center,” said Dr. Gray. “This accreditation has allowed us to verify this through a tough and thorough external evaluation of all of our processes and can serve to bolster trust in our program among potential patients and the medical community.”
