There are many opportunities for indoor and outdoor rock climbing around Nashville. Metro Parks is actively working to identify and establish rock climbing and repelling areas within parks in Davidson County. Please stay tuned for new developments and updates on rock climbing in Nashville!

Running and Walking

In keeping with the city of Franklin’s goal to become one of the top-25 sustainable cities in the country, Franklin identified the need to expand existing greenways and trails. Grab some comfortable shoes and head out to some of the most scenic greenways and trails the region has to offer.
Enjoy the fresh air on one of our natural surface trails, from mulched paths to mowed grass routes. The local and state parks provide a variety of options for individuals hoping to run or walk in the open.


Hiking is a great form of exercise that you can to do with the whole family or in solitude and meditate! You don’t have to travel far to experience some wonderful hiking adventures.


There are over 49 places to fish within Williamson County, including lakes, creeks and ponds, many of which are near our beautiful greenways.


Middle Tennessee is rich in lakes, rivers, and streams creating vast opportunities for boating, water sports, fishing, camping, hunting, hiking and other kinds of recreation. Several of the most prominent lakes – reservoirs really – are operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, including JPercy Priest Lake and Old Hickory Lake just outside of Nashville. Other large lakes in the region include Center Hill Lake, Dale Hollow Lake, Lake Barkley, and Kentucky Lake.
The dams that form these lakes help with flood control and provide hydroelectric power.
The Cumberland River flows right through downtown Nashville. River Front Park is a popular location during the summer time for concerts, the 4th of July fireworks show, as well as many other events set right on the shoreline looking across the river at the Tennessee Titans stadium.


The Factory at Franklin is a one-of-a-kind retail and entertainment complex listed in the National Register of Historic Places and in near proximity to the nationally-recognized Main Street of Franklin, Tennessee. Its restaurants and storefronts present distinct and varied offerings showcasing local culture and artisan goods. Three unique venues, totaling 30,000 square feet and also available for private use, host an increasing number of concerts, plays, and other entertainment events throughout the year.


Sports fans will feel right at home! From professional and semi-pro teams to college athletics, there are a variety of sports teams to watch.
The Tennessee Titans made it all the way to the Super Bowl in 2000 only to lose in the final seconds, but they have been embraced by Nashville! We are also home to the Nashville Predators, Nashville Soccer Club, and the Vanderbilt University Commodores.


Franklin and Nashville are home to religious diversity, and the area is saturated with churches, synagogues and cathedrals representing various faiths. From Greek Orthodox churches to various Jewish synagogues and places of worship for various denominations of Christianity. Take Highway 96 East toward Interstate 65.

After crossing over I-65, turn left at Carothers Parkway.

Take I-65 North to Exit 65. Upon exiting, turn right onto Highway 96.

Turn left at Carothers Parkway.
